Under 11s Update, 29 October 2006

Well we managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory today: 2-0 up early in the second half before finishing 4-2 losers. But ‘losers’ is the wrong word and yet again does not describe the Silfield Spirit we saw so much in evidence this morning. Even when we were 4-2 down, our heads didn’t drop and we battled on.

And whilst I may be a mouthy so-and-so on the sidelines, at least I don’t “F and blind” like the Lakeford coaches did. Shocking behaviour.

Thanks are due to Kristian Websdale for running the line for us this week.

Talking of Lakeford and losses, their loss is our gain on a different matter: those of you who remember Daniel Brindle from the Under 9s season may know he went to play for Lakeford last season and this, but has become disillusioned with them … to the extent that he’s coming back to us as soon as we can sort out the transfer papers insisted upon by the League. Hopefully, he’ll be joining us at our next training session at least as he won’t be allowed to play for us until the League says so.

On the subject of players rejoining us, I’m sure you’ll be pleased to know that Matthew Elvin, who rejoined us temporarily whilst Joseph Bush is sidelined due to his injury, has decided to stay with us after Joseph is fit to rejoin the team.

Onto administrative stuff:

  1. There is no training this Wednesday evening - we haven’t got a match this coming Sunday, 5 November, so….
  2. On Sunday morning, we’ll train instead from 10.00am until 11.30am at Ketts Park.
  3. This update can be found here on our web site.

See you on Sunday.
