Old Catton (Away), 17 December 2006

Old Catton -v- Wymondham

Result: 1-9 Loss
1-7 Halftime

Goalscorer: Old Catton Own Goal

Wymondham Player of the Match: Daniel Warncken

Another disappointing game: during the first half, the boys simply failed to play to their ability, such that we had effectively lost the game by half-time being down 7-1.

The second half was much improved and this was reflected by our only conceding two more goals.

Under 11s Update, 12 December 2006

Fixtures

Training, 16 December 2006

There will be no Saturday morning training this week.

Old Catton, 17 December 2006

This is an away fixture kicking off at 2.00pm at Old Catton Rec., Church Street, Old Catton, NR6 7DS. From St. Faith’s Road, turn right into Church Street, go past the church and the Middle School on your left and turn left towards the Rec. which is to the east and behind the school - there’s a car park there.

We will leave Ketts Park at around 1.00pm, so if you intend going directly, you should meet us shortly after 1.30pm at Old Catton. Please can the lads wear our home kits (Red/Black) - I have again specifically made sure that they won’t clash this week…

Under 11s Update, 7 December 2006

Last Sunday’s cup match was a very welcome return to form for the boys - my take on it all is in the results section of the web site.

Thanks to Kristian Websdale for being linesman for us again - it’s much appreciated and the referee’s decisions weren’t your fault!

Fixtures

Training, 9 December 2006

Saturday morning training will take place from 10.30am to 11.30am on the Astroturf pitch at Wymondham Leisure Centre.

Norman, 10 December 2006

This home fixture has been postponed due to Norman’s cup match last week being called off.

So instead, we will be playing a friendly against the Lizards U11s unless our pitch is waterlogged. Steve Swallow and I had a look at the pitch on Wednesday lunchtime and it was OK, but today’s rain won’t have helped. I will take a look at the pitch condition on Saturday morning and let you know at training whether the friendly is still on or whether it is to be cancelled.

We will play in our Green & Whites, please.

Match Reporter

We still need a volunteer or volunteers to act as match reporters. The boys really appreciate seeing their names in print but we need people to prepare the words for me to upload to the various web sites and send to the ‘papers. All I need is for one or more volunteers to make some brief notes and e-mail them to me: I’ll do the rest.

Hellesdon (Away), 3 December 2006

League Cup, 2nd Round

Hellesdon -v- Wymondham

Result: 4-2 Loss (after extra time)
0-2 Halftime

Goalscorers: Henry Leather, Matthew Plater

Wymondham Player of the Match: Joseph Bush

A particularly disappointing game: despite a return to form by the team and some great play from everyone, we were let down by the refereeing with both the second-half goals being awarded when neither should have been - in the first, the ball never crossed the line, with Asher pushing it out as he fell into the back of the next, and the second being scored when three Hellesdon players were offside (even if one of them may possibly not have been interfering with play) and being scored some 34 minutes into a 30 minute second half…

To Hellesdon’s credit, they knew we’d won as well and appeared apologetic. A good game spoiled by a dodgy result.
