Conduct
After today’s game against Blofield, I was told of two incidents that occurred, one during regular play and one after the final whistle. During regular play, one player was heard to question and back-chat the referee on a number of occasions. After the final whistle, another player was alleged to have twisted a Blofield player’s hand when he should have been merely shaking it in a sporting manner.
Neither incident is acceptable.
We had developed a reputation as a clean and fair team and there is no way I want this to be jeopardised by any petty or ill-mannered behaviour. I do not care what happens or is acceptable for other teams: when you play for us, you abide by the referee’s decisions, you play to the whistle and you do not retaliate even if provoked.
In the former case, if we are truly aggrieved, we can complain to the FA who in ordinary circumstances will back up the referees 100% or who will investigate any well-founded complaints. Mere mistakes and poor decisions we have to live with and can bitch about between ourselves.
In the latter case, if there are incidents involving other team players, tell me and I will take it up with the other team’s manager or the league.
In both cases, complaints made against us can lead to deduction of points and fines being imposed.
I have spoken to the parents of the lads concerned and will not need to take matters further this time, but both should know that any further incidents of this kind will lead to them being taken off the field of play by Alex or me and further sanctions being imposed.
I hope this is the last time I need to mention player conduct.
