United Under 12s Update, 29 June 2007

Training

Friendlies

We’re going to restart our training in preparation for the new season with some friendlies against the Lizards Under 12s and the United and Lizards Under 11s on Wednesday evenings over the next few weeks, starting this Wednesday, 4th July, 7.00pm at Ketts Park. Please wear whatever kit you like, as we’ll no doubt need to use some bibs.

Soccer Academy

As you’ll have seen if you’ve read the Wymondham & Attleborough Mercury, we have announced our own Soccer Academy in lieu of the Summer School which only caters for up to Under 11s.

This is a free event and will be taking place on Saturday 7th and Saturday 14th July from 10.00am until 2.00pm: please bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink. It will be open to anyone in the right age group and the aim is to hone our squads’ skills and to attract new players for both the Lizards and the United Under 12s.

Although it is free, we will still need to get all our players registered with the Club for the season ahead as always and the annual sign-on fee remains at £10 as the last few years.

In order to establish how many players we are likely to require for the coming season we need your help, please! We need to know by next weekend whether or not your son is available for the season ahead. To do this we simply need an email from you stating “Yes”, “No” or “Undecided”.

With this information we will then build up a plan of the number of additional players we need to look for and promote the Soccer Academy through local advertising, schools, youth clubs etc. and we will know which squads any new players will be joining.

If you have any questions regarding the academy or any other aspects of the future for the Lizards and United Under 12s please feel free to contact either Steve Swallow or Richard Morris (by e-mail please).

2007/2008 Season

Season Start Date

I have this evening heard from Steve Swallow who attended the League AGM as our Club Secretary that the new season will be starting on Sunday, 9th September: details of fixtures, etc. to follow when they are issued.

League Cup

Woohoo! We are already through to the second road of the League Cup again this year having been awarded a bye in the draw.

And Finally…

It turns out that the most sporting team in our league last season was Blofield but we were very close runner-up. Well done everyone and let’s go all out to win the league and the most sporting team honour this season.

Congratulations also to the Lizards who won their league’s most sporting team trophy.
