Training Cancelled

Due to pitch conditions up at Ketts Park and the likelihood of snow tonight, training on Saturday 22nd March is cancelled.

United Under 12s Update, 18 March 2008

Training

Training this Saturday is at Ketts Park from 10.00am to 11.00am.

Fixtures

There are no matches this Sunday as it’s Easter Sunday.

Parents’ Meeting

The parents’ meeting was a great success thanks to all the Lizards’ parents who made it along with the two parents from the United squad. I can only assume you are generally happy with our plans… For those of you who couldn’t be there, here is the Parents’ Evening Presentation (268kb PDF)

Under 12s United End of Season Party

As we will be merging with the Lizards at the end of the season for the Under 13s and beyond, we have a balance left in our team ‘kitty’ that we should use up on the boys. To that end, I have arranged a party at Norwich City from 3.30pm to 6.00pm on Sunday, May 4th. From 3.30pm until 5.00pm, the boys will receive some training at Carrow Park. At 5.00pm they will go to eat the packed tea you will need to have provided for them, please, and at 5.30pm they will have a full tour of Norwich City football ground until 6.00pm.

There will be no cost to the boys but you will need to make arrangements to get them there and to pick them up afterwards.

Wymondham Town United Presentation Event

This will take place at the Wymondham Leisure Centre from 6.00pm until 9.00pm on Sunday, May 11th. A family ticket for the event will cost £10 and tickets will be available to buy from me shortly.

I need to know urgently who each player wishes to vote as their Player of the Year, please.

WTUFC Constitution Rules & Codes of Conduct

These have been printed and are ready to be collected from me. Participation in any match or training session requires acceptance by the players, their parents/guardians and any spectator associated with any player.

Poringland, 16 March 2008

To confirm my earlier text, today’s home fixture against Poringland has been cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch (and the strong winds wouldn’t have made for a good game either in any event).

It has been agreed with the league and with Poringland that the match will be postponed until Sunday, March 30th at 10.30am at Ketts Park.

United Under 12s Update, 9 March 2008

Training

Training this Saturday is at Ketts Park from 10.00am to 11.00am. Alex Bush will be taking training with Andrew Bunting guest coach again for us.

Fixtures

Poringland, 16 March 2008

This is a home fixture, kicking off at 10.30 at Ketts Park. The boys should make sure to be there at 10.00am for warm-up and team talk. This is an important fixture for us as Poringland are two points above us in the league and a 3-0 win or better would take us ahead of them.

Please can the lads wear our home kits (Red/Black).

If anyone cannot attend, please make sure I am informed well in advance: you have my numbers, etc.

Firside Athletic, 9 March 2008

Firside -v- Wymondham

Result: 3-8 Win
1-3 Halftime

Goalscorers: Brindle, Parker, Brindle, Morris, Parker, Gayton, Parker, Brindle (P)

Wymondham Player of the Match: Dan Brindle

An absolute joy to watch: the boys made me proud to be their coach today.

The day started badly for us, with a maximum of eleven players expected due to injuries and absences. Of those eleven, Joseph Bush was struggling with illness and wasn’t expected to manage a whole game. At Firside, we discovered we had a no-show and lined up with just ten players.

The game started well with Captain, Dan Brindle getting us off to a good start scoring well with Nick Parker getting on the scoresheet shortly afterwards to give us a degree of comfort. After a while, Joseph was unable to continue and we subbed him off the pitch. Despite being down to just nine players, Dan netted another before Firside fought back to get a goal before half-time from the penalty spot, the ball being put away after hitting the post and Firside getting there first.

Wymondham came out strongly in the second half, with Jack Morris placing the ball in the top corner of the net to get our fourth. Nick Parker then scored a blinding goal, followed shortly by James Gayton rocketing in another from well outside the 18 yard box. Nick Parker then scored his hat-trick.

Firside fought back well scoring twice but Wymondham piled on the pressure before Nick Parker was brought down in the penalty area. Dan Brindle stepped up to net from the sport, gaining his hat-trick and costing another parent a fiver! The final score 8 to Wymondham, 3 to Firside.

Well done Wymondham!

Thanks to Michael Elvin for running the line for us again and for providing the medal for the Man of the Match.
